Privacy Policy for Steady
Last updated: 2 October 2026
This policy explains how Steady, published by Rly Simpl, handles information in the Steady app for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, and on the Steady website. It describes the product as it works today.
The short version
Steady is built so your health stays with you.
- There is no Steady account to create.
- Health readings, journals and history are stored in the app on your device.
- Steady does not run a server that stores your health content.
- The coach uses Apple Intelligence on your iPhone. When a larger model is needed, that request runs in Apple’s Private Cloud Compute, which is designed not to store it. Steady does not receive or keep a copy.
- The website uses privacy-respecting analytics that count pages in aggregate. They are not used to identify you, advertise to you, or follow you across other sites, and they never receive health data from the app.
Who we are
Steady is a wellness companion published by Rly Simpl. In this policy, “Steady”, “we” and “us” mean Rly Simpl. “You” means the person using the app or the website.
Privacy questions can be sent to callum@rlysimpl.com.
Steady is a personal wellness tool. It is not a medical device, and it does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition. Readings, scores and chat answers are for noticing everyday patterns. See the Terms of Service.
What stays on your device
When you use Steady, the app keeps a local store on that iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch. That store can include:
- Readings Steady has read from Apple Health, and the charts and personal baselines derived from them.
- Stress logs, mood journal entries and notes.
- Gut diary entries.
- Fasting history.
- Habit definitions, completions and statistics.
- Nutrition logs, including meals, caffeine and alcohol.
- Hydration you log.
- Chat you have with the coach, kept in the app.
- Settings, such as language, units, and which tabs you pin.
This information stays in the app on the device. Steady does not upload it to a Steady account or a Steady cloud. There is no account, and there is no Steady server for this content.
You can delete entries in the app. Deleting the app removes Steady’s on-device store. It does not delete samples that remain in Apple Health. Water that Steady wrote to Apple Health stays there until you delete it in the Health app.
If you use iCloud Backup, a Finder or encrypted computer backup, or another backup you turn on, that backup can include the app’s local store. The backup is handled by Apple or by the backup tool you chose. Steady does not operate it and does not receive a copy.
An iPhone and an Apple Watch stay in step through Apple’s Watch Connectivity, directly between your devices. That sync does not pass through a Steady server.
Apple Health
Steady reads Apple Health only after you allow it. You choose the categories. With those permissions the app can show patterns in stress, sleep, heart rate variability, weight, cycle, fitness, nutrition and related metrics.
Steady writes one thing back to Apple Health: the water you choose to log. It does not overwrite the rest of your Health library.
You can review or revoke access at any time in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Steady. When you turn a category off, Steady stops reading new samples of that type. Samples already copied into Steady’s on-device store remain there until you delete them or delete the app. Apple Health is Apple’s service, described in Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Meal photos and barcodes
You can photograph a meal. On your device, Apple’s Vision framework labels the photo, a check confirms it looks like food, and Apple’s on-device Foundation Models estimate calories and macros from those labels and anything you add. Steady does not upload the photo, the labels, or the estimate to a Steady server.
If you scan a barcode, Steady sends that barcode to Open Food Facts to look up the product name and nutrition facts. The request includes the barcode and ordinary connection data such as an IP address. It does not include your Apple Health library, journals, photos or chat. Open Food Facts is an independent service. Its practices are described in the Open Food Facts privacy policy.
Apple Intelligence and Private Cloud Compute
The coach answers questions about the metrics and timeframe you choose to attach, such as heart rate variability, sleep, weight or cycle.
The model runs on your iPhone with Apple Intelligence first. Steady does not operate an AI server, and your readings are not sent to Steady. The coach sees only what you attach. The rest of your Health library is not included. Chat is in English for now. When it cannot help, it says so in your language.
When a larger model is needed, Apple Intelligence sends that request to Apple’s Private Cloud Compute. Private Cloud Compute is Apple’s system, not Steady’s. Apple’s published design is that a request is used only to produce the answer, is not stored afterwards, and is not used to train Apple’s models. Steady does not receive the request, the attached metrics, or the answer on any server of ours, and we do not keep a cloud transcript.
Meal estimates use Apple’s on-device models and do not need Private Cloud Compute.
Watch, widgets, motion and reminders
The Watch app can show stress, sleep, breathing and complications. Home Screen widgets, Lock Screen widgets and Live Activities read the same on-device information so you can glance at it. They do not send that information to Steady.
The hydration screen uses the device’s motion to animate the water. Motion is used on the device for that animation. Steady does not collect a motion history and does not send motion data anywhere.
Habit reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. They are not delivered through a Steady push server. You can turn notifications off in iOS Settings.
Purchases
Optional paid features, when Steady offers them, are sold by Apple through the App Store. Apple processes the payment. Steady does not receive your card number, billing address or Apple Account password.
Restore Purchases, in Settings inside the app, asks Apple whether this Apple Account already bought the feature. That transaction is covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy. Billing and refunds for App Store charges are handled by Apple. Steps for restoring a purchase are on the support page.
The website and analytics
You can read the Steady website without an account. The site does not ask you to create a profile.
The website uses two analytics tools so we can see which pages are useful. They measure the site. They are not used to identify you, to build an advertising profile, or to follow you onto other websites. They are not connected to the Steady app. They never receive your health readings, journals, photos or chat.
- Ahrefs Web Analytics counts page views without cookies and without a personal profile. It does not follow you across other sites.
- PostHog, hosted in the European Union at eu.i.posthog.com, records anonymous page views. Those visits are not turned into identified person profiles. We do not attach your name, email or health data to them.
We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site trackers or social pixels, and we do not sell website analytics. Blocking cookies or scripts in your browser does not stop you reading the site. It can stop the anonymous page count.
When you contact us
If you email callum@rlysimpl.com, we receive the address you write from, your message, and anything you attach. We use that to answer you and to keep a record of the conversation.
Please do not send Apple passwords, payment card details, or a full Health export. If we need a screenshot to diagnose a problem, we will ask for that specific image. If you include health details in an email, we use them only to help with that request.
What we do not do
Steady is designed around a short list of things we do not do:
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
- We do not use your health content to train a Steady model. There is no Steady model trained on customer health data.
- We do not ask for your name, email or phone number in order to use the app.
- We do not show third-party advertising in the app.
Children
Steady is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Health content entered in the app stays on the device. If you believe a child has emailed us personal information, contact us and we will delete that message.
Legal bases
Most of what Steady shows you never leaves your device, so Rly Simpl does not collect that health content onto our systems.
Where we do process personal information, we rely on legitimate interests: answering support email, keeping the website secure, and understanding which pages are read without identifying you. You can object to website analytics by blocking the scripts, or by emailing us. We also process information because you asked us to, when you email us, look up a barcode, or attach metrics to a chat request. We keep or disclose information when the law requires it.
Health information is sensitive. Steady is designed so that we do not take it onto Steady servers. A chat request that uses Private Cloud Compute is processed by Apple under Apple’s privacy terms for that request, and Steady does not store it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Brazil and California, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. California residents also have the right to know, delete and correct personal information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are used in the California Consumer Privacy Act.
Because health content is stored on your device, you can act on it directly. You can view it in Steady and in Apple Health, delete entries in the app, revoke Health access in iOS Settings, delete the app to remove Steady’s on-device store, and manage Apple backups in your device settings.
For email you sent us, or for a question about website analytics, write to callum@rlysimpl.com. We may need to confirm the request is yours. We will not treat you differently for exercising these rights.
How long information is kept
How long information lasts depends on where it lives:
- On-device content stays until you delete it, delete the app, or delete a device backup you control.
- Water written to Apple Health stays in Apple Health until you delete it there.
- Support email is kept while we need it to help you, and for a reasonable period afterwards so we can follow up. We then delete it or reduce it so it no longer identifies you.
- Website analytics are kept as anonymous or aggregate measurements. We do not build a long-term file on individual visitors.
Where processing happens
The app’s store is on your device. Watch sync is between your devices.
Private Cloud Compute, Apple Health, the App Store and device backup are Apple services, described in Apple’s Privacy Policy. A barcode lookup is sent to Open Food Facts. PostHog analytics are processed in the European Union. Ahrefs processes its cookieless page counts under its own terms. Support email is read by Rly Simpl in order to reply.
We do not transfer your health content to a Steady server in any country, because we do not operate one.
Security
On-device storage is protected by your device passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and by iOS. Keep the device locked and the system up to date. No method of storage is perfect. Because Steady does not keep a central copy of your health content, there is no Steady health database that holds it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Steady changes. The date at the top of this page will change when we do. If a change materially affects how health content is handled, we will say so on this page.
Languages
This policy is published in the languages of the Steady website. Use the language links above to read another version. If a translation differs from the English text, the English text controls.
